After 10 years of discreetly battling bipolar disorder, AnGela decided to break her silence to help others suffering from ‘incurable,’ hidden illnesses. On this blog you’ll find well-researched articles, downloadable worksheets and practical recipes to help you along your journey to better health. Here’s a little more about the beginning of AnGela’s journey…
Less than a year before her first manic episode, AnGela married her loving husband Aaron in 2004. Her illness came as quite the shock, even though she suffered with PTSD & Major Depression as a teen.
During her formative years, AnGela started studying the Bible. Her faith grew as she saw how applying Bible principles helped her with life’s challenges. She began sharing what she learned with others & was further strengthened by seeing how useful Bible principles are to all people regardless of culture, race, or social standing. AnGela continues to dedicate the majority of her time to helping others see the value of applying Bible principles in everyday life. While the resources discussed on this blog may be practical, AnGela believes that true happiness cannot be achieved without recognizing & addressing our innate spiritual needs.
The research skills she learned while studying the Bible have helped in her endeavor to understand bipolar disorder better. Working along with her doctors, AnGela learned about how the gut & brain are intrinsically linked – yes, how the foods we eat affect our moods – and so much more…
Message from AnGela
“Hi! I’m AnGela – no, that’s not a typo; I’m named after my Great-Aunt from Greece so my name is pronounced with a hard ‘G’ (like in the word ‘girl’.)
“Like many others, I took A LOT of medication when I was first diagnosed back in 2005 (learn more about how it all started.) Sadly, those medications have a lot of side affects and led me to taking more and more medications that stunted my thinking ability – my power of reason. But then…
“I found a doctor who was willing to treat me as a unique person rather than as a diagnosis. I learned to keep asking questions; like, why do symptoms increase with a lack of sleep? How do genetics play a role in the manifestation of bipolar disorder? Can our actions (the foods we choose to eat, the way we handle stress, and the environment we live in) affect the severity of this disease?
Keep asking questions!
“Those are just a few of the questions I started asking. It’s been a long journey and I continue to find answers. And I’m sure I can learn so much from you too!
We’re in This Together!
